Thank you for attending today's conference, which marks the start of the digital migration of the Civil Registry. A project that is part of the broader policy of the Christodoulides Government to digitize services, with the ultimate goal of providing better service to citizens and combating bureaucracy.

Today we are launching the online operation of ten services of the Civil Registry, prioritized according to their importance and the frequency with which they are requested by citizens. These are reissuing birth and death certificates and consular birth and death certificates, applying for the issuance or renewal of an identity card and passport for adults, issuing a certificate of permanent residence and issuing a certificate of origin for students. In addition, citizens will henceforth be able to access the list of certificates issued, while the validity of the certificates will be confirmed by the services where the documents will be deposited.

With the use of digital services, citizens of the Republic of Cyprus who are in Cyprus or abroad will be able to apply for, issue and receive the relevant certificate online, avoiding inconvenience at the service points and saving At the same time, the administrative costs for the processing of these services are reduced and, consequently, the staff of the Provincial Administrations, the CCPs and the KEPOs are used to better serve the citizens or perform other tasks.

With the exception of the services of issuing and renewing identity cards and passports, which require a visit to one of the service points to obtain the biometric data, the procedure for the other services is completed online, easily and quickly, without the need to obtain the biometric data.

With the exception of the services of issuing and renewing identity cards and passports, which require a visit to one of the service points to obtain the biometric data, the procedure for the other services is completed online, easily and quickly, without the need to obtain the biometric data. The digital services are initially offered in Greek, with the intention to be available in English as well soon.

Dear friends,

As I mentioned at the beginning of my post, the first set of services offered digitally from today is only the beginning of the process of digitising the services of the Civil Registry. Our aim is, with the help of the State Ministry of Research, to move to the full digitisation of the Civil Registry, in order to reduce service time and create a modern and citizen-friendly State, while at the same time helping to reduce our environmental footprint.

In conclusion, I would like to thank my friend the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy and the services of his Deputy Ministry for the close cooperation with the officials of the Civil Registry Directorate of the Ministry of Interior for the successful implementation of this important project.

The gradual digital transformation of our country is a priority of President Christodoulides' governance programme.

The gradual digital transformation of our country is a priority of President Christodoulides' governance programme. As you will hear from Mr Damianou, the creation of online services for the benefit of the citizen is high on the Government's agenda and, in this direction, we are proceeding with the gradual digitalisation of the entire range of State services.
