[PIO] Statement by the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Mr.Yannis Panagiotou regarding the formation of a consensus between the social partners

Building a consensus between the social partners on staffing the labour market is very important to confirm the value of social dialogue and tripartite cooperation between workers, employers and the state.

The development of the economy and the cohesion of society require the constructive cooperation of all parties to ensure the progress and prosperity of the citizens of our country.

Particularly at the present juncture, the volatility of the international environment and the major external challenges make unity and cooperation at home imperative to ensure normality and stability at all levels.

The in principle positive response of the social partners to the framework submitted by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security for the formulation of a consensus is an important step in the right direction and I look forward within the next few days to the completion of all planned internal procedures so that aspects of the proposed process can be put in place immediately.
