The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Dr Maria Panayiotou, attended today's meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment. After the session, Dr Panayiotou made the following statement to media representatives. The Commission has verbally submitted to me a framework of 25 questions and concerns, which have either been open for a long time or are of concern to them and they would like to be informed so that they know how we as a Ministry are proceeding. For my part, I have provided answers to all 25 questions. Some of them need more detailed answers, which we have not had time to give, but all 25 questions will be answered in writing so that we can move forward and slowly resolve the very serious problems that we have before us.

I expressed to the Committee my intention to work as a team and with dedication on all the problems that arise, drawing of course on the expertise of the well-trained staff of the Ministry and the various organisations associated with the Ministry, to work as a team and with dedication to resolve them, with the implementation of the governance programme as our roadmap."
