[PIO] Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus and the Civil Society Humanitarian Organizatio

The Ministry of Health's partnerships in the health sector are being strengthened by joining forces with the Greek Humanitarian Civil Society Organization KIDS SAVE LIVES, creating a common front of solidarity for the immediate shielding, safety, protection and rescue of every human life at risk from heart attack, drowning or any other cause.

The Minister of Health, Mr. Michael Hadjipandela and the President of the Greek Humanitarian Civil Society Organization KIDS SAVE LIVES, Mr. Anastasios Stefanakis, signed today, Friday 11 November 2022, a Memorandum of Cooperation at the Embassy of Cyprus in Greece.

The Memorandum of Cooperation aims. [*]the development of a Network of Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) of the Republic of Cyprus, which will be maintained in the National AED Map (https:/kidssavelives.gr/aed/) of KIDS SAVE LIVES, [*]to promote the FREE use of the iSAVElives Application created and developed by KIDS SAVE LIVES, for the immediate activation of Community First Responders in life-threatening emergencies, in order to reduce the response time (https:/kidssavelives.gr/isavelives/), [*]the timely response to life-threatening events and the increase of their survival rate through the Administrative Coordination of the Ministry of Health, the Scientific Support of the Cardiology Clinic of Nicosia General Hospital and the Technical Support of the Resuscitation Department, [*] in the development of valuable partnerships, educational programs, activities and competitions aimed at raising awareness and informing children, adolescents, citizens and health professionals about the importance of immediate first aid and the timely use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in victims of cardiac arrest. The Minister of Health, Mr. Michael Hadjipandela, said: "I would like to thank the Civil Society Humanitarian Organization KIDS SAVE LIVES for this contribution to the Republic of Cyprus. It is an important contribution that will help many of our fellow citizens to have a better life, and when there is a cardiac arrest they will be able to live their lives normally. Thank you! As I have told you before, we expect to implement this application immediately in the next 50 days in Cyprus, and I will expect you in Cyprus in early 2023 to present this pioneering application in our Cyprus."

For his part, the President of the Greek Humanitarian Civil Society Organization KIDS SAVE LIVES, Mr. Anastasios Stefanakis, said: "Greece and Cyprus together again in a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health of Cyprus and the Greek Humanitarian Civil Society Organization KIDS SAVE LIVES - Children save lives, for public health and saving a life. In real emergencies our enemy is time. That's why we need to think intelligently and innovatively."
