The Department of Urban Planning and Zoning of the Ministry of Interior announces, that a Contract was signed today between the Department and MILONAS S&N CONSTRUCTIONS LTD for the installation of lifts and other related works in nine (9) existing blocks of flats in the Government Housing Estate Kokkinis in Nicosia. The contract amount is €1.479.914,36 plus VAT. The works are expected to be completed within a period of 18 months.
This project falls under the "Elevator Installation Programme in Existing Government Housing Estates", which involves 368 cases nationwide. This programme is implemented by the Department of Town Planning and Building and, to date, a total of 115 lifts have been installed in existing blocks of flats. It is noted that priority is given to blocks of flats in which elderly people or people with special mobility needs live.
In the next period, two more contracts are planned to be signed for the installation of eight more lifts in blocks of flats in the Nicosia and Limassol districts. In particular, four lifts will be installed in blocks of flats in the Governmental Settlement of Athalassa and one in the Governmental Settlement of Agios Georgios, Nicosia District, as well as two lifts in the Governmental Settlement of Makarios III and one lift in the Governmental Settlement of Agios Ioannis, Limassol District.
In addition, two tenders for the installation of lifts in a further 13 blocks of flats are in the process of being advertised. Specifically, they will concern the installation of three lifts in the Governmental Settlement Agii Anargyroi II and five lifts in the Governmental Settlement Agios Ioannis, Larnaca District, as well as five lifts in the Governmental Settlement Makarios III, Limassol District.
The preparation of studies for the installation of lifts in another 30 apartment buildings in the Government Settlements of Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol is also in progress.
