The Education Sector of the Nursing Services Directorate of the Ministry of Health organizes on October 11, 2023, in collaboration with the Department of Health Sciences of the University of Nicosia, a scientific conference entitled: "Care of People with Rheumatic Diseases: An Interdisciplinary Approach".
The workshop, which is organized in the context of the World Rheumatic Disease Day, which has been established as the 12th of October, will take place at the Sciaklio Training Centre for Clinical Medicine, Nicosia, from 08:00 - 14:00.
Rheumatic Diseases, as chronic conditions, are the most important cause of disability worldwide, constituting a substantial social - economic problem and significantly affecting the quality of life of both the individuals with rheumatic diseases and their families. In Cyprus, it is estimated that more than 100,000 people have some form of rheumatic condition, with one (1) in four (4) people affected.
The importance of early diagnosis, pharmacological and non-pharmacological management of pain, the role of nutrition and physiotherapy in people with rheumatopathy, the role of the trained rheumatology nurse and moral and ethical issues that arise in the care of individuals are some of the important topics that will be developed during the workshop.
The aim of the workshop is to contribute to the continuous professional development of health professionals and thus to the quality of care provided to people with Rheumatic Diseases.
