The conference will be addressed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Anita Demetriou, the Attorney General of the Republic, Mr. George L. Savvidis, the President of the Supreme Constitutional Court, Mr. Antonis Liatsos, as well as the Director of the Justice Sector of the Ministry of Justice and Public Order on behalf of the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Mr. Marios Hartsiotis. An introductory speech on the topics of the scientific conference will be delivered by Mr. Panikos Leonidou, MP for the Limassol constituency and member of the Parliamentary Committee for Legal Affairs, Justice and Public Order.

The occasion for the organisation of this conference was the recent reform of the courts in Cyprus and the Seventeenth Amendment to the Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus, which resulted in the possibility of enacting legislation for the full extension by law of the jurisdiction of the Administrative Courts to deal with other administrative disputes to be determined as substantive, without being limited exclusively to international protection proceedings under European Union law and tax disputes.

The aim of the scientific conference is to lay the foundations for an in-depth analysis of the procedural issue of judicial review with regard to administrative disputes on the merits, but also to establish legally sound ways of supervising the enforcement of the relevant decisions for the benefit of the administrators. The conclusions from the contributions of the scientific conference are expected to contribute positively to the wider society of the Republic of Cyprus and especially to the citizen level, as the extension of the provided administrative judicial protection to problems related to the everyday life of the administrator is being studied.

The programme of the scientific conference is attached.
