3rd Call for Proposals for Scheme 4.1: "Investments that improve the overall performance and sustainability of agricultural holdings"
Preliminary Approval of Applications and 2nd Call for Proposals for Scheme 6.1: "Support for First Establishment of New Farmers"
The Managing Authority of the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 in cooperation with the Cyprus Rural Payments Agency proceeded with the third call for the third call of the Scheme 4.1 and the second call of the Scheme 6.1, with the receipt of applications closing on 5 September 2022. Once again, there was very strong interest from our farmers, resulting in a large number of applications being received. 562 applications were received for Scheme 4.1 and 293 applications for Scheme 6.1. A new element in the process of completing and submitting the applications was the fact that, for the first time, everything was done electronically via the CAP website.
The great response had demonstrated that the initial budget of €31 million for Scheme 4.1 and €5 million for Scheme 6.1 was too small to meet the demand. The Commissioner, realising early on the inadequacy of the available funds, took all necessary steps, made every effort and recommended that the available budget be increased. As a result, the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, which is the Managing Authority of the Rural Development Programme, decided to make additional funds available in order to fully meet the increased demand.
Despite the very large number of applications and the complexity of the checks required to assess these applications, it was possible to start the approval process in July 2023, much earlier than originally planned.
Despite the very large number of applications and the complexity of the checks required to assess these applications, it was possible to start the approval process in July 2023, much earlier than originally planned. To date, all applications have been approved which were complete or the applicants concerned responded to the call for missing supporting documents for their applications, met the eligibility criteria and secured a score greater than or equal to the minimum score set.
The process of examining pending applications will continue, depending on the response of the interested parties.
