Methodological Information
Purpose
The purpose of the survey is to collect data on household access to selected Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), internet use, e-government, eID use, e-commerce online, e-skills and privacy and data protection.
Coverage
The survey was conducted during April - June 2023 and covered 1,803 households with at least one member aged 16-74 and a total of 3,540 people between these ages.
Sampling
The sampling frame used to select the sample was the 2021 Population Census, with a reference date of 1 October 2021. The statistical unit is the household.
The selection in urban areas was done using simple systematic random sampling (one-stage sampling). In rural areas, selection was conducted in two stages: the communes of each province were considered as initial sampling units and households as final sampling units. Neighbouring villages with a small number of households were combined to create clusters with the minimum number of households required. The sample of communities was randomly selected with probability proportional to size (p.p.s.). Due to the fact that some communities are large, the probability of selection is equal to 1. Subsequently, a simple random sampling of households from each community was carried out.
All individuals aged 16-74 years of the selected households were included in the sample.
Data collection
Data was collected by face-to-face interview with all individuals in the household aged 16-74 years. In the absence of one person, another member of the household assisted with the responses.
Reference period
Data are for the first quarter of 2023, unless otherwise stated.
