The Consumer Protection Service informs that, during the period from 15 April to 19 April 2024, it carried out a campaign that included targeted checks in furniture outlets.

In the framework of this campaign, it was checked whether:

[*]Prices are indicated on the products displayed for sale. [*]The final price indicated includes VAT. [*]The selling prices of the products are clearly visible. [*]The prices of products displayed in showcases shall be indicated. [*]Discounts and promotions are true. [*]Information on the return policy is displayed.

A total of 125 outlets have been inspected nationwide. The results of these inspections show full compliance at 61% since the first inspection carried out. In the remaining establishments (39%), infringements were detected, written recommendations were given and compliance with the provisions of the legislation was requested within three days. During the re-inspections carried out, full compliance was found, except for one case, for which a formal investigation procedure will be launched, possibly leading to an administrative decision.

On this occasion, the Consumer Protection Service calls on businesses to be particularly careful and to implement effective internal control systems in order to ensure that they comply with the provisions of the relevant legislation.

Finally, the management and staff of the Consumer Protection Service wish all businesses to comply with the provisions of the legislation.
