During yesterday's (22.11.23) briefing of the UN international media by the Deputy Representative of the Secretary-General, Mr. Farhan Haq, a reporter reported that Cyprus is preparing to become, perhaps, a hub for a humanitarian corridor or aid to Gaza and asked the Deputy Spokesperson if there is coordination with UN facilities and activities with Cyprus and if not when it will start.
Mr. Farhan stated that there are no details on this issue at this time. However, he noted, there will be an update when the situation stabilizes. At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to the countries that provided assistance and means of distribution, such as Egypt through Rafah, as well as to other countries that expressed their willingness to help, such as the Government of Cyprus.
