[PIO] Reminder of data declaration for 16-year-old conscripts

The Ministry of Defence reminds that from 1 February 2022 the new online platform for the submission of data of those who are or have reached the age of 16 within the current year (born in 2006).

The platform will remain operational until 31 March 2022 and those who have not proceeded with the registration of their data are invited to do so in order to make the necessary preparations for their call-up to the National Guard.

It should be noted that, according to the National Guard Law, this is a compulsory procedure for those who have reached the age of 16.

The same legislation also provides that "whoever fails to submit the data declaration, or submits it late, or enters incorrect data in it, or submits incorrect supporting documents, commits an offence and, upon conviction, is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six (6) months or a fine not exceeding one thousand euros (€1,000.00) or both.

It is also stressed that those young people who fail to submit their details, will not be able to be issued an exit permit in order to travel outside Cyprus.
