[PIO] Reminder for the announcement of the competition for the design of the logo of the Department of Contemporary Culture

The Ministry of Culture reminds the interested parties that it continues to accept applications regarding the competition for the creation of a logo for the Department of Contemporary Culture until 30 April 2024.

The specifications, conditions and criteria are as follows. Terms of Reference[/B]

The logo must characterise the Department of Contemporary Culture, its role and mission. Originality, inspiration, timelessness, artistic excellence and symbolism are the key characteristics that must be reflected in the logo, which will be the cornerstone of the Department's identity. The logo will accompany all Department events and activities, letterheads and other printed materials.

B. Eligibility:


[*]The competition is open to graphic designers and visual artists. [*]The Competition is not open to persons who are related by first or second degree (blood or marriage) to members of the Jury.

C. Specifications:


[*]The logo must incorporate the title: Department of Contemporary Culture, State Ministry of Culture. [*]The logo can be used in linear black and white and colour printing (CMYK or PANTONE). It can also be applied on a dark or light background (reverse). A precise description of the colours proposed in four-colour and PANTONE should be provided. The logo should not exceed four colours of PANTONE or four colours of four-colour printing. The logo should not exceed four colours of PANTONE or four colours of four-colour printing. [*]The font to be used can be purchased (if necessary). [*]The logo must be created in linear vector-eps format or in a high-resolution tiff or jpeg image (at least 300 dpi at 210 x 297 mm). Besides, the logo should be printable and legible in a small size, so that it can be used in a small dimension (1,5 cm). [*]The proposals submitted should be provided both in the smallest dimension (1,5 cm) and in 15 cm in printed form, in colour and black and white, as well as in electronic form (pdf) on CD or DVD. [*]The logo can also be used on its own without the name Ministry of Culture, Department of Contemporary Culture. [*]The logo must not be or contain images, photographs, faces, trademarks, distinctive features, phraseology or other elements for which the contestant does not have a license and cannot grant a license to publish, use, reproduce, publish and exploit. [*]It must be possible to reproduce the logo on any material and use it in any medium (including websites, magazines, newspapers, films, television, packaging in two-dimensional and three-dimensional rendering) [*]The winner is obliged to deliver the logo in English (Department of Contemporary Culture - Deputy Ministry of Culture) and Greek sample, in printed and electronic form (on USB, CD or DVD) in all the above applications.

D. Criteria:


[*]The logo should refer to the role and mission of the Department. [*]It must be original (never before used by anyone/anyone or for any purpose), original and creative. [*]Be distinctive, simple and easily remembered by the public. [*]To be distinguished by its artistic, design and technical excellence. [*]To be timeless.

E. Special Conditions-Rights:


[*]The creator of the winning logo grants the Department of Contemporary Culture the exclusive right of use (including publication, advertising, copying, alteration, modification and reproduction in all possible ways of the logo). All exclusive and transferable rights to use, publish, advertise, copy, copy, alter, modify, change and reproduce in all possible ways the logo to be won are assigned to the Department of Contemporary Culture. No other person or entity will have the right to use the logo, including the entrant (he/she is entitled to use it on his/her personal wallet). [*]The Department of Contemporary Culture has the right to modify and change the logo, to conduct professional redesign, to create different versions of the logo in terms of color, size, shape, form, resolution and all other attributes without any restriction, in cooperation or with the consent of the creator of the winning proposal. [*]The Department of Contemporary Culture has the right to replace the logo if it deems it necessary or considers that it no longer reflects its mission.

F. Submission of proposals:


[*]Interested parties are entitled to submit more than one proposal. [*]Each proposal must be submitted in a separate sealed envelope, A3 size. [*]The envelope will be marked 'Competition for the selection of a logo for the Department of Contemporary Culture - Ministry of State for Culture' and a seven-digit number of the participants' choice. Any details of the applicant(s) must not be included in the proposal envelope. [*]With the submission of each proposal, the tenderer will receive an acknowledgement of receipt, indicating the seven-digit number of each envelope/proposal submitted. [*]Each competitor must submit his/her proposal in paper and electronic format (on USB, CD or DVD). [*]The paper proposal for the logo for the applications referred to in the Conditions and Specifications section must be glued on A4-size cardboard (29,7 cm x 21 cm). An envelope must be attached to the back of each piece of cardboard, in which the applicant's details (full name, curriculum vitae, contact telephone number, e-mail address) must be written. [*]A rationale for the proposal submitted may also be submitted, up to a maximum of 200 words. [*]By participating/submitting proposals, the applicant is deemed to accept without reservation all the terms of the competition. [*]The winning logo may be subject to suggestions for minor modifications/improvements before it is given its final form.

10. Applications should be delivered to Ms Elena Christodoulides (Department of Contemporary Culture - Deputy Ministry of Culture, 27 Ifigenia, Acropolis, 3rd floor, tel. 22809946 and 22809812) in a sealed envelope with the reference "Competition for the Selection of a Logo for the Department of Contemporary Culture - Deputy Ministry of Culture" by Tuesday, 30 April 2024.

11. The Department of Contemporary Culture is not obligated to accept or approve any proposal if the submitted proposals are not satisfactory.

G. Jury:


[*]The contestant(s) will be judged by a five-member committee, consisting of the Director of the Department of Contemporary Culture (Chairperson), the Senior Cultural Officer Ms. Nadia Stylianou, the Senior Cultural Officer Ms. Elena Christodoulides, Cultural Officer A' (responsible for visual arts) Ms Louli Michaelidou and Ms Elena Eliadou, Professor of Graphic Arts in Secondary Technical Education and Programme Development Officer at the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth. [*]A design will be prepared only for the selected logo. [*]The prize for the competition is EUR 2,000.
