The Council of Ministers today approved the Army of the Republic (Dangerous Mission Allowances and Other Related Matters) Regulations 2024", following a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Defence.
These Regulations are intended to simplify the procedures for the calculation of allowances, eliminate the resulting bureaucracy, as well as the uniform, equal and transparent treatment of the beneficiaries of all allowances related to the dangerous mission duties of the Officers and NCOs of the Army of the Republic. The provisions already in force regarding the conditions of payment of the allowances already paid to the members of the Army are codified and unified, abolishing the individual Regulations for each of them.
At the same time, in addition to the individual provisions already in force, for the first time, the payment of the Cruising Allowance to the members of the Army of the Republic, who belong to the crews of warships, is established. This allowance, the amount of which will be determined after the approval of the Regulations by the Parliament, will be paid to the personnel of warships of the Navy of the Army of the Republic, when the warship is at sea or at anchor outside the territorial waters of the Republic of Cyprus.
