[PIO] Registration and enlistment for service in the Civil Defence Force begins on 23 October

The Civil Defence Force announces that, following a decision of the Council of Ministers, in accordance with the Civil Defence (General) Regulations 1997 and the relevant Notification of the Minister of Interior, all female citizens of the Republic born in the year 2001 and all male citizens of the Republic born in the year 1969, residing in the territorial areas of the Republic, have been invited for registration and enlistment for two years of service in the Force.

The registration and classification of the subjects will take place at the offices of the Regional Civil Defence Directorates (PEDPA) by Province, at the local Civil Defence Stations / Civil Defence Sub-Stations or at the offices of the Community Councils, depending on their place of residence. From Monday, 23 October 2023, until Friday, 27 October 2023, registration and enlistment will be for female civilians and from Monday, 13 November 2023, until Friday, 17 November 2023, for male civilians, during the following hours:

For the districts of Nicosia and Larnaca

For urban areas:


from 8:30 a.m.8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m,

and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the offices of the Regional Civil Defense Directorates (PEDPA) by District.

For rural areas:


and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the offices of the Regional Civil Defense Directorates (PEDPA) by Province, or

from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m, at the local Stations or at the Offices of the Community Councils, depending on their place of residence.

For the Limassol District

For the city areas:

from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m,


and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the offices of the Limassol Regional Directorate of Civil Defence (PEDPA Limassol).

For rural areas.a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the offices of the Community Councils

and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the offices of the Limassol Regional Civil Defence Directorate

and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the offices of the Limassol Regional Civil Defence Directorate.

All those arriving for registration and registration must necessarily bring their Political Identity Card with them.

From the obligation to serve in the Force are exempt:


[*]Members of the Cabinet, members of the House of Representatives, Judges, members of the Public Service Commission, members of the Education Service Commission, Directors-General in the Cabinet, the Director-General of the House of Representatives, Directors or Heads of Government Departments or other government departments, the Directors of Public Law Organisations and the members of the Central Council and the Provincial Civil Defence Councils, [*]Clergymen, [*]Those serving on a permanent basis in the Civil Defence Force, the Cyprus Army, the National Guard, the Police, the Fire Service or the Prisons, [*]Those serving in the National Guard, Those who have performed their service in the National Guard and belong to classes of the National Guard that have not been discharged from its reserve and those who due to special qualifications are in any way integrated in the reserve or in other units of the National Guard, except those persons to whom specific reference is made in the National Guard legislation or to whom, under the National Guard legislation has been granted an exemption or suspension from the obligation to serve in the National Guard, and [*]Persons serving in a service which has been declared an "Essential Service" under the provisions of section 6 of the Act and who are designated to implement the civil defence plan of that service and who have been assigned responsibilities and duties, in accordance with the Regulations, to deal with the effects of hostile action.

It is clarified that, all those belonging to the above groups must normally present themselves for registration by presenting the necessary documents and, subsequently, an exemption from the obligation to serve in the Force will be granted to those who meet the criteria.
