The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works for the purpose of promoting clean road transport vehicles to reduce greenhouse emissions and other pollutants in the atmosphere, under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, has proceeded with the procurement of forty (40) electric vehicles to meet the needs of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the public sector from Michaels Automotive Ltd. The tender was announced by the Department of Electromechanical Services through an open tender procedure, with a total purchase cost of €1,466,080.00 including VAT.
The purchase falls within the EU's objective of decoupling from polluting fuels and reducing pollutants in the atmosphere. It also relates to the procurement of clean light vehicles, which for the Republic of Cyprus was set at 31.9% of all vehicle procurement through public and wider public sector contracts for the period until 31 December 2025.
Further, the Department of Electromechanical Services will proceed with the installation of appropriate charging points in the departments and services where the electric vehicles will be delivered.
