The contacts of Interior Minister Nikos Nouris with his counterparts in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia were successfully concluded today.

The two Ministers agreed on the immediate commencement of consultations between the two Ministries at a technical level in order to conclude agreements on a number of issues within their respective areas of responsibility.
Among other things, civil protection issues and civil evacuation plans in cases of emergencies and natural disasters, as well as security and migration issues were discussed. The two ministers expressed their intention to sign a memorandum of cooperation, while Interior Minister Nouris extended an invitation to Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif to visit our country, which he accepted.
The visit to Saudi Arabia was preceded by a meeting in Beirut with Lebanese Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi. During the meeting, Mr. Nouris expressed his thanks to the neighbouring country for the good cooperation in dealing with the maritime migration flows, which is included in the bilateral agreement between Cyprus and Lebanon. The Lebanese Minister of Interior expressed the will of the Lebanese government to continue and strengthen cooperation both on migration and other areas of common interest. He thanked Mr Nouris for the humanitarian assistance provided by Cyprus to Lebanon to address the difficulties the country has been facing over the past year, especially after the explosion in the port of Beirut.
The Interior Minister returns to Cyprus this afternoon.
