The Ministry of Defence announces the recruitment of Contracted Officers (CCOs) in the National Guard to fill vacancies, on a first come first served basis from the Final List of CCO candidates, which was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic on 10.11.2023. The forthcoming recruitment of SYOs, to fill the vacancies and meet the needs of the National Guard, at this stage, concerns the Nicosia, Clear, Kakopetrias, Island-Kornos and Larnaca Garrisons
Candidates for the recruitment of SYOs will be invited by email and mobile phone message (sms), which will contain all relevant information for their invitation to the Health Examination and for the signing of the Employment Contract, which was published with the advertisement of the posts in the Official Gazette on 01.09.2023.
For the candidates who are National Guardsmen and are fulfilling their military service, the post will be preserved until the date of their discharge, provided that they are found suitable at the Health Examination.

In case a SYO candidate attends the Health Examination - to which he/she will be invited by email and mobile message - which will be held before the signature of the relevant Contract, without all the required medical examinations/confirmations, or at the Medical Examination he/she is not found fit for service in the National Guard, with a first or second class (I/1 or I/2) qualification, or does not present himself/herself for a Medical Examination, he/she will be removed from the Final List and his/her place will be offered to the next candidate on the Final List.
When presenting themselves to the Health Committee, candidates will be required to produce the health examinations indicated in the e-mail sent to them, together with the Health Examination Form attached, duly completed. Please note, these health examinations are not covered under the GHS as they are not health care services.
It is stressed that candidates who are found to be I1 or I2 qualified at the Health Examination and will come forward to sign the Employment Contract will be required to produce the following:
(a) Identity Card and a photocopy (b) Original Certificate of Clean Criminal Record, which must be recent (not more than 2 months old) (c) High School Diploma or Certificate of Graduation from an accredited Secondary School (original to be shown, (d) Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree or Diploma (original to be shown and a certified copy to be submitted to the Ministry of Defence) (e) Completed form "Payroll of State Employees - Personal Data of a Newly Appointed Employee" (f) Authorization for salary payment by bank transfer (g) Completed declaration for claiming tax deductions (h) Photocopy of proof of Social Security number (in case a person does not have a Social Security number, he/she should take all necessary steps to the Ministry of Labour to obtain it). (i) Marriage certificate and birth certificate of children where applicable (j) Original Certificate, in accordance with section 22(6) of the Recruitment and Suppression of Sexual Abuse and Sexual Exploitation of Children and Child Pornography Act (L.91(I)/2014), issued by the Chief of Police, certifying that they are not included in the record maintained under the provisions of that Article; and (k) Medical certificate that they can attend the initial training to be conducted after the signing of the Employment Agreement. Failure to attend such training shall be grounds for disqualification of the candidate or the granting of a deferment on the basis of the Schedule of Diseases, Conditions and Injuries to Health issued under Article 31 of the National Guard Laws. The medical certificate is different from those to be produced at the Health Examination. (l) Postage stamps (by post) worth €17.5, i.e. one €10, three €2, one €1 and one €0.50.
The contract signing date is set to take place at Camp "Christos Samaras" in Athalassa, on Friday, 24 November, at 07:30 a.m.
The classification of the SYOPs for training will take place at KEN Limassol, on Monday, 04 December, at 07:30 a.m.p.m.
In the event that the invited candidates do not respond to the invitation to sign the Employment Contract, the Ministry of Defence will proceed with the recruitment of the next candidate, based on the order of ranking in the Final List.
