The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth (MPEAN) announces that the Album "The Hero Tasos Markos" has been published in December 2021. This Album is a memorial to the modern hero, who with his fighting spirit, bravery and dedication has brightened our history. Tasos Markou is a symbol and ideal for all of us and has rightly taken a place in the Pantheon of Heroes.
It is recalled that on June 21, 2019, a ceremony was held in the hall of the Presidential Palace, in which the Directorate of Secondary General Education rewarded the students who excelled in the contest "The Hero Tasos Markou". A Competition, which was established by a decision of the Council of Ministers, dated 3 April 2019, following the submission of a relevant proposal. It is a great honour for us, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, to establish this competition, which will be held every five (5) years, with the ultimate goal of introducing students to the life, action and sacrifice of the hero of modern Cypriot history, Tasos Markos.

The Publications Committee of this Album embraced with great love and conscientiousness the preparation of the Album, under really adverse conditions due to the consequences of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
The Ministry of Defence intends to organize a press conference at a time and place to be announced later.
