Sentences of 3.5 years, 4 years and 8 months imprisonment on three charges respectively were imposed by the Nicosia Court of Cassation on 1/2/2022 on two persons from Turkey, who admitted that with the purpose of gaining profit they facilitated the entry of migrants into the territory of the Republic, namely 13 persons from Syria.
The offences of which the defendants were found guilty relate to.
Note that the offences in the indictment were committed before the amendment of the relevant laws that increased the sentences from 8 to 15 years for the first category and from 2 years' imprisonment to 12 years' imprisonment for the third category.
