The Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Communications and Works met today, Thursday, 17 February 2022, and discussed the following matters:
1. The Regulation of Public Procurement Procedures and Related Matters (Amendment) Act, 2022

2. The Regulation of Contracting Procedures of Entities Operating in the Water, Energy, Transport and Postal Services and Related Matters (Amendment) Act, 2022

The Commission started the debate in principle on the above mentioned bills, the purpose of which is to repeal provisions aimed at harmonizing with "Directive (EU) 2009/33/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 on the promotion of clean road transport vehicles with a view to supporting low emission mobility", since the above mentioned Directive was amended by "Directive (EU) 2019/1161 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 amending Directive 200 The transposition of the latter Directive into national law is foreseen in the provisions of a separate harmonisation bill, which is currently under discussion before the Commission.
The representative of the Accountant-General summarised the purpose and provisions of the bills, the consideration of which would continue at the stage of clause-by-clause debate at the next meeting of the Committee, which was set for 24 February 2022.
3.The Radiocommunications (Amendment) Act 2021.

The Commission continued and concluded the article-by-article discussion on the above bills, the purpose of which is, inter alia, to harmonize with "Directive (EU) 2018/1972 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2018 establishing the European Electronic Communications Code". During the discussion, it received from the representatives of the Department of Electromechanical Services and the Office of the Commissioner for Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation (BERET) answers to questions raised by members regarding certain provisions of the bills.
