[PIO] Press Release of the Parliamentary Committee on Institutions, Values and Governance Commissioner

The Parliamentary Committee on Institutions, Values and Governance Commissioner met today, Wednesday, 16 March 2022, and discussed the following issues:

1. The Assessment of Candidates for Appointment to the Public Service

(Amendment) (No. 3) Act, 2021.

(Bill proposed by Mr. Dimitrios Demetriou on behalf of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Rally)

(File No. 23.02.062.155-2021)

The Committee continued its discussion of the above proposal for a law, the text of which was revised to include a provision making it compulsory to take a written examination both for admission posts whose initial salary scale does not exceed the A9 step of the government salary scale and for admission posts whose initial salary scale does not exceed the A11 step of the government salary scale.

The Committee decided to continue the discussion of this matter at its next meeting.

2.The Political Parties (Amendment) (No. 2) Law of 2021.

(Bill proposed by Mr. Marinos Sizopoulos on behalf of the Social Democrats' Movement of the EPP)

(File No. 23.02.062.180-2021)

The Committee continued the discussion of the above proposal for a law, the purpose of which is to amend the Law on Political Parties in order to ensure the proper functioning of political parties and to prevent the circumvention, infringement and/or suspension of the implementation of their decisions. In the context of the debate, a relevant amendment submitted was examined.
