[PIO] Press Release of the Parliamentary Committee on Institutions, Values and Governance Commissioner

The Parliamentary Committee on Institutions, Values and Governance Commissioner met today, Wednesday, 16 February 2022, and discussed the following issues:

1. Annual Report of the Commissioner for Administration and Human Rights Protection for 2020.

The Commission discussed the report on the work of the Office of the Commissioner for Administration and Protection of Human Rights for the year 2020, during which it was informed by the Commissioner of the main issues of concern to citizens, which included issues related to the containment of the COVID-19 pandemic, living conditions in closed structures, and the relocation and decommissioning of asphalt concrete plants near a residential area. The Commission was also informed of the overall compliance rate in reports and ex-officio investigations and interventions by its Office with reference to statistical data.

2. The Control of Engagement in the Private Sector by Former Government Officials and Certain Former Public Sector and Public Sector Employees (Amendment) Act, 2022

(No. Fak. 23.01.063.024-2022)

The Committee began debate on the above bill, the purpose of which is to amend the basic law to include members of the police force in the definition of "public and broader public sector employee". The Committee decided to continue discussion of the matter at a later stage.
