The Parliamentary Health Committee met today, Thursday, 24 February 2022, and discussed the following issues:
1.Preliminary meeting of the House Committee on Health of the House of Elders.

The Committee, in the presence of representatives of the competent services, was informed of the issues relating to old age as recorded in the report of the Health Committee of the House of Elders and expressed its support for elderly people, who face multiple problems, and its intention to contribute to their resolution.
2. "Autonomy" of Paphos General Hospital from Limassol General Hospital
(Self-examination following the recommendation of Mr Panikos Leonidou and Mr Chrysanthos Savvidis)

The Commission, in the presence of representatives of the competent services, was informed about the operational framework of the Paphos General Hospital and examined the prospect of its autonomy from the administrative, under the OCYPY, Limassol-Pafos Region. The Commission also received the views of those responsible in relation to individual problems faced by this hospital and requested further information.
3.The support that the state should provide to people with hidden disabilities.
(Examination of its own motion on the recommendation of Messrs. Marina Nikolaou, Nikos Kettirou, Christos Christofias, Efthymios Diplarou, Savias Orphanidou, Charalambos Pazarou, Panikos Leonidou and Chrysanthos Savvidis)

The Commission, in the presence of representatives of the competent services, was informed about individual problems faced by people with invisible disabilities, such as the unequal treatment they receive from the state, as well as the existing framework of support for them. Members of the Commission highlighted shortcomings in this framework and proposed actions to strengthen it, stressing the need for cooperation between stakeholders.
