The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources met today, Tuesday, 1 March 2022, and discussed the following issues:

1. The problems faced by farmers and ranchers in the Delikipou community, ways to address and resolve them.

(Self-examination on the recommendation of Mr. Giannakis Gavriel, Mr. Andreas Pasiourtidis and Mr. Valentinos Fakontis)

(File No. 23.04.039.048-2022)

The Commission, in the presence of representatives of the relevant government departments and stakeholders, began the discussion of the above issue, which focused on the problems faced by farmers and ranchers in the community of Delikipou due to the conversion of the gravel land into state forest land. The Commission will return for further consideration in two months' time.

2. The establishment and operation of farmers' markets in municipalities and major rural centres for the sale of agricultural and dairy products.

(Ex-officio examination on the recommendation of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources)

(File No. 23.04.038.700-2021)

The Committee, in the presence of representatives of the relevant government departments and stakeholders, began a discussion of the above-mentioned matter, which focused on three pillars, concerning the non-implementation of the current legislation on farmers' markets, the non-establishment of the advisory committee provided for in the said legislation and the untimely filing of a relevant bill, which is pending before the Legal Service of the Republic for legislative review.
