The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources met today, Tuesday, 1 February 2022, and discussed the following issues:
1. The problems encountered in the operation of the irrigation departments and the need to implement a comprehensive policy plan to address them.

The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources began, in the presence of representatives of the relevant government departments and stakeholders, the discussion of the above issue, which focused on the long-standing problems identified in the operation of irrigation departments and the need to immediately develop a comprehensive policy plan to address them. Taking into account all that has been put before it, the Commission has decided to continue the discussion of this matter in two months' time in order to give the relevant government departments the necessary time to coordinate their actions in order to find an effective mechanism to solve this long-standing problem.
2.The Fisheries (Amendment) (No. 2) Law of 2021.

The Committee began the clause-by-clause discussion of the above bill, the purpose of which is to amend the Fisheries Act to implement Article 6 of the Protocol to the Agreement on the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community concerning Sovereign Base Areas, in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment and the Legal Service of the Republic. Having concluded the clause-by-clause debate, the Committee reserved its position on the provisions of the Bill at its next meeting.
3.The Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 2022.

The Committee began the discussion of the above bill, the purpose of which is to regulate the possibility of drawing up management plans for the marine protected areas of the Republic, in the presence of representatives of the relevant state agencies and stakeholders, and decided to proceed to an article-by-article discussion of its provisions at its next meeting.
