The Director General of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, Mr Neofytos Papadopoulos, had a meeting today at the Ministry with the trade unions OELMEK, OLTEK and PDOED.
During the meeting, the Director General presented to the representatives of the organizations a proposal of the Ministry of Education for the years 2023-2027, regarding "Investing in the recruitment process of teachers", and "Ensuring the timely staffing of school units".
This is a Proposal, which, as the Director General noted, has already been presented during the previous period to both the Director General of the Ministry of Finance and the Chairman and Members of the Education Service Commission.
Specifically. Papadopoulos, what is envisaged in the proposal is an increase in the number of permanent teacher positions with a corresponding reduction in the number of temporary teachers, and a modification of the existing system of offering contracts and examinations for inclusion in the list of appointees.
The Director General concluded the meeting by handing the proposal to the representatives of the trade unions, informing them that separate meetings will be set up with the leadership of each organisation in the near future to discuss their positions regarding
