In relation to today's article in the online edition of the newspaper "Phileleftheros", entitled "Odysseus bomb for the new building of the Legal Service", I note the following:
The design and specifications for the construction of the new building of the Legal Service have been made by the legally competent Department of Public Works, which, with the know-how and expertise of its officials, plans and supervises the implementation of this type of development projects.
As far as I have been informed, the Department of Public Works will duly respond to all the points raised by the Auditor General in the letter sent to the Deputy Auditor General. Director of the Department of Public Works as recently as 18 September 2023, with a communication to the Attorney General of the Republic, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, the Chairman and members of the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment, the Accountant General of the Republic, the Secretary of the Council of Ministers, the Director of the Department of Planning and Zoning and the Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Zoning.
I regret to note, however, that once again, the Auditor General, before receiving responses to anything he requests to be informed by the relevant Government Agencies and Departments, follows his usual practice of making public his reports, letters and comments by presenting only the views of the Audit Service, in a manner that negatively shapes public opinion against those he occasionally targets.
