The Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance announces that the implementation of the government's plan for the timely payment of the statutory pension for new pensioners within one month of their retirement age or the date they wish to receive their pension has been completed.
The early payment of the first payment for the statutory pension began to be implemented when the September 2023 pension is paid and will end with the January 2024 pension payment, positively affecting over 6,000 new pensioners annually and putting a definitive end to months of past delays.
The acceleration of the payment of all benefits and allowances paid by the Social Insurance Services is a political priority of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance, in the context of the implementation of the Governance Programme, and is being implemented progressively with concrete results. The Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Mr. Yannis Panagiotou stated the following:
"The choice of the statutory pension as the first benefit now paid on time to all beneficiaries is indicative of the minimum appreciation that the State must show towards workers who have been punctual in their obligations by paying their contributions to the Social Insurance Fund and expect that in their transition from work to retirement, the State will do the obvious by meeting its own obligations on time. The people-centred government policy is producing tangible results that are gradually improving the daily lives of thousands of citizens, addressing problems and correcting distortions in order to improve the quality of life of citizens."
