[PIO] Participation of the Minister of Justice and Public Order at the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council

The Minister of Justice and Public Order, Mrs Anna Koukkidi-Prokopiou, will participate in the Council of Justice and Home Affairs Ministers of the EU, which will take place on 19-20 October 2023 in Luxembourg.

The Ministers will discuss issues related to the Schengen area and the fight against cross-border crime. In addition, the Presidency is expected to present a Progress Report on the Regulation on preventing and combating sexual abuse of children and the prevention of the radicalisation of minors on the internet.

In the context of the working lunch, the Council will take up, on an exceptional basis, developments in Israel and the wider Middle East region. The 27 will also address issues relating to the internal security of the European Union, with an emphasis on improving the exchange of information between police and internal security services, as well as hate crimes.

Tomorrow, 20 October, Justice issues will be discussed, in particular the directive on the harmonisation of certain aspects of insolvency law.

Ministers will also adopt Council Conclusions on digital empowerment and fundamental rights.

The Minister will return to Cyprus on Saturday 21 October.
