[PIO] Participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the EU General Affairs Council

Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos is travelling to Brussels today, Monday, 20 May 2024, to participate in the work of the General Affairs Council of the European Union (EU), which will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, 21 May 2024.

On the Council's agenda will be the preparation of the upcoming European Council (27-28 June 2024) and the Article 7 Procedure on the Rule of Law in Poland.

In addition, during the Council's work, the situation of the rule of law in Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania and Luxembourg will be examined in the context of the Annual Rule of Law Dialogue, based on the findings of the relevant reports prepared by the European Commission for all EU Member States for 2023. In this context, the Foreign Minister will present the state of affairs with regard to Cyprus and report on the actions taken, as well as on the progress achieved so far, to comply with the recommendations of the European Commission.

The Council will be preceded by an informal working breakfast, hosted by the Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova, Commissioner for European Integration and Chief Negotiator with the EU, Ms Cristina Gherasimov.
