Defence Minister Charalambos Petridis participated today in a teleconference of the Defence Ministers of the European Union on developments in Ukraine.
During the teleconference, the Ministers of Defence of the Member States exchanged views on the possibilities for assisting the Ukrainian forces with military material.
After condemning the Russian invasion, Mr Petrides expressed his support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people, expressing regret for the humanitarian crisis. He stressed his concern about the possible expansion of the conflicts in neighbouring countries and the possibility of an increase in hostilities.
He continued by expressing Cyprus' support for the decision to provide assistance through the European Peace Facility assistance measures, assuring on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus the provision of humanitarian assistance.
