7-9 May 2024 - The United Arab Emirates market is on a steady upward trend. Costas Koumis participated in the tourism exhibition "Arabian Travel Market 2024" in Dubai with co-exhibiting partners of the tourism industry. Within the framework of the exhibition, meetings were held with travel agents and airlines, aiming to increase tourism flows from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the countries of the Middle East in general, as well as to enhance the air connectivity of our country with existing and new destinations. In particular, meetings were held with senior executives of Jazeera, Gulf Air and Air India.

This was followed by participation in the 13th Annual Investment Meeting - AIM Congress 2024 in Abu Dhabi on the main theme "Adapting to a changing investment landscape: harnessing new potential for global economic development", which was held under the auspices of the UAE Minister of Commerce, Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, with whom the Deputy Minister of Tourism had a private meeting.

In the framework of the "AIM Congress 2024", the Cyprus Mission, under the auspices of the Deputy Minister of Tourism, held meetings and networking contacts with top tourism and investment partners. The meeting with the Head of the International Investors Council of the UAE and officials of the Investment Management Unit of the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) was considered extremely important.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, on the occasion of the conclusion of the meetings at both the "Arabian Travel Market" and the "AIM Congress", said the following :

"It is important that another extremely interesting market for our country remains steadily on the rise.

Last year we recorded a 14% increase in arrivals from the UAE, and we are pleased to see that it is feasible to record a remarkable increase again this year. Of course, during our contacts, what we primarily looked at was the outlook for next year, or rather the next few years.

Both the countries of the Middle East and the countries of Asia undoubtedly deserve more attention. We have discussed the possibility of new promotional actions and they are certainly now heading towards implementation.

With regard to the Indian market, there is interest in the near future, but much depends on the evolutionary plans that are running within the companies that have shown interest in our country. From our side, the only certainty is that we are proceeding with a plan to strengthen demand from this country, with a clear focus on some specific forms of tourism.

In relation to the investment sector, we had important contacts during the "Annual Investment Meeting". It was effectively confirmed that strategic partnerships with the UAE can be established in the field of investment. I consider the meeting with the country's "International Investors Council" extremely important, as well as the fact that the foundations were laid for the start of a good cooperation."
