[PIO] Open call for expressions of interest for participation in the Jury Committees of the State Literature Prizes for 2024 and 2025

The Department of Contemporary Culture of the Ministry of State for Culture is issuing an open call for expressions of interest from experts (researchers, scholars, etc. from the field of literature) for staffing the three Jury Committees of the competitions for the State Literature Prizes for the years 2024 and 2025, concerning the publications of the years 2023 and 2024, respectively.

For information in relation to the services they will be asked to provide, interested parties may consult the relevant notice and the Regulations in force for the 2023 editions here.

The Committees shall consist of five members. The Deputy Minister of Culture will appoint:

a) five ranking members to the State Literature Prize Jury, which will examine the nominated works in the categories:

  1. Poetry
  2. Novel
  3. Short Story/Novel Study (Monograph)/Edition on Literature
    1. Young Writer Award

b) five senior members of the Jury of the State Literature Awards for Children and Adolescents, which will examine the nominated works in the categories:

  1. Literature for Young Children
  2. Literature for Older Children and Adolescents

[C] three members of excellence in the Jury of State Prizes for Illustration, who, together with representatives of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, will examine the nominated works in the category:

  1. Illustration of Literary Works for Children and Adolescents.

The members of the Committees will be appointed no later than 30 March 2024. The list, as well as a copy of the nominated books, will be delivered to the members of the Committees by the end of June 2024. The Committees will meet during the month of September to make their decisions on the awards. The Chairman of each Committee is elected from among the members.

Those interested in serving on a Committee of the competition are invited to complete and send the form "Declaration of Interest for Appointment to the State Literature Prize Jury" electronically (accompanied by a full CV) to the following email address: info@culture.gov.cy. The form can be found here.

The Declaration of Interest must be sent no later than 29/2/2024. Clarifications on any questions regarding the application evaluation process can be requested in writing by sending an email with the subject "Clarifications for participation in the State Literature Prize Jury" to the above email address.

The persons selected as members of the Jury Committees will be paid the following annual fees*:

State Literature Prize Jury

Jury of the State Literature Awards for Children and Adolescents

Jury of the State Prizes for Illustration

€500

*The final amount of the fee may be reduced in accordance with the current circulars of the General Accounting Office.

The expression of interest does not necessarily imply that the interested party will be included in the Committee to be set up.

Persons appointed as members of the selection panels will be asked to sign a Confidentiality/Non-Conflict of Interest Declaration.
