In the framework of the Government's policy for the digitalization and modernization of citizens' communication with the Social Security Services in order to create a modern and citizen-friendly State, the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance, in cooperation with the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, has launched from 7/02/2022 the electronic platform for submitting applications for sickness benefits from the Social Insurance Fund.

Following the announcement of a parallel procedure for the submission of paper applications during the first two weeks of operation of the electronic platform, it has so far been established that the Computerized System for the electronic submission of applications for sickness benefit is functioning without errors, with the successful submission of hundreds of electronic applications to date without any problems.

Based on the above, the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance announces that, in line with the original announcement, the receipt of paper applications will cease at the end of this week and after Friday, 18 February 2022, no paper applications for sickness benefit will be received and cannot be processed. All applications for Sickness Benefit need to be submitted electronically to be accepted.

Full instructions for submitting an online application are posted on the Department's website www.mlsi.gov.cy and it is reminded that the identification process in the "ARIADNI" electronic platform, which needs to be done only once, can be done either through an automatic interface with e-banking services or by on-site visit to Citizen Service Centres or, by on-site visit to the Provincial Social Insurance Offices which will carry out identification only for the purpose of applying for sickness benefit.

The aim of the services of the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance is to process all applications for benefits from the Social Insurance Fund as quickly as possible.
