This year, for the third consecutive year, the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (MESY) implemented a programme of online courses for students of various ages, aiming at their continuous empowerment on important issues of social interest, personal improvement and psycho-educational content. These courses were offered by the Pedagogical Institute during the months of February and March, with five different topics.

In the first online course, offered by officials of the Office of the Commissioner for the Protection of Children's Rights, entitled "Children's Rights in the School Environment", the main objective was to strengthen the active citizenship of the participants, while proposing to teachers activities through which students can understand how to apply the basic principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in the school environment. This was followed by the online lesson entitled "Building healthy relationships: Claiming our Boundaries", offered by Stalo Lesta, Group Facilitator-Trainer, in which participants/participants had the opportunity to explore the characteristics that make relationships healthy and happy. The third course, offered by Members of the Cyprus Bar Association, was on "Legal Studies-The Legal Profession in Practice. Rule of Law and the Procedure of Administration of Justice". In the context of this topic, the students had the opportunity to learn about the profession of a lawyer, the basic concepts of Justice, the Courts and the Rule of Law. At the same time, important points that should be taken into account by the students in their decision to study law were mentioned, as well as employment options that a law graduate can have, in addition to the profession of a lawyer.

The online lessons continued with the presentation "Cyprus' biodiversity and the importance of its conservation and protection", which was offered by officials of the Environment and Sustainable Development Education Unit (ESEDU) and aimed at presenting the basic elements of Cyprus' biodiversity and the importance of its conservation and protection. The online courses were concluded with the online course "Risks of online addiction in adolescence and protective measures", by a partner of the Cyprus Addiction Treatment Authority and presented the basic forms of online addiction and the criteria on the basis of which contact with screens falls within a context that requires professional counselling and treatment.

All presentations were very interesting and useful for every teacher in his/her work and will be posted on the website of the Ministry of Education for pedagogical use, both in school and non-school time.
