Regarding an article published by the Movement of Ecologists-Civic Co-operation entitled "Tankers illegally emptying sewage into the sewage system in Lakatameia", the Nicosia Sewerage Board states that it does not correspond to reality.
The tanker discharges into the sewerage system of the Nicosia Drainage Board, in the area of Lakatameia, were controlled by the Board between 16 May 2024 and noon on 17 May 2024.
These discharges took place following a failure at a pumping station in the area.
The nearest Police Station was informed from the outset, as well as the residents of the area.
The fault was repaired within a few hours and the system was restored to normal operation.
