The Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance informs all those affected that yesterday, Saturday 11/5/2024, an amending legislation concerning storage facilities for liquid petroleum products was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic.
The new legal framework, which is based on the international practice applied by European Union member countries as well as international standards and specifications, modernizes the field of safety of liquid petroleum products storage and storage facilities.
The new "Safety and Health at Work (Liquid Petroleum Products Installations) Regulations 2024" place obligations on operators of liquid petroleum products installations to safely design, construct, install, maintain and repair liquid petroleum products installations, safely locate installations, safely conduct processes in installations, periodically inspect installations, maintain a Technical File (i.e. records, certificates, reports, manuals, etc.etc.), the preparation of an Explosion Protection Document and the preparation of emergency plans. These obligations are defined according to the risk of the installations.
In addition, in accordance with these Regulations, operators shall submit to the competent authority (Labour Inspection Department), a notification of liquid petroleum products installations, accompanied by a relevant Certificate of Suitability for the Safety of Installations issued by qualified persons from the private sector.
