The "National Rodent Management Plan with the use of anthropophagy", which was prepared and entered into force in 2019, continues to be implemented for the third year with a budget of 65,000 euros from the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.
The Plan is implemented by the Departments of Agriculture, Forestry, Game and Fauna Service, Veterinary Services and the Cyprus Bird Association.
Through this Plan, the placement of artificial human bird nests in all provinces is enhanced and aims mainly at mapping the nests that have already been placed and those that are planned to be placed. It also enhances the study of the biology of the human bird, as well as the information of the rural population on the importance of biological management and the need to reduce the chemical preparations that are often used uncontrollably in the countryside.
It is noted that the recording of the reproductive success of the artificial human bird nests placed by the Forestry Department in the Paphos Province by ringing chicks and adult birds is almost completed.
