[PIO] National Accounts - Gross Domestic Product 2022

The Statistical Office (SY) publishes an Infographic on "National Accounts 2022". The preliminary results of the National Accounts for the year 2022 published by SY on 21 April 2023 show a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of €27,006.4 million at current prices compared to €24,019.0 million in 2021. The growth rate in real terms is estimated at 5.6% in 2022, compared to 6.6% in 2021.

Regarding the production approach for calculating GDP, "Trade" is the sector with the highest share of gross value added by economic activity in GDP (11.4%), followed by "Financial Services" (10.2%) and "Information & Communication" (9.0%).

Private Consumption is the main category in the calculation of GDP based on the expenditure approach and is estimated at €16,565.2 million at current prices. In addition, in the calculation of GDP in the income approach, "Compensation of employees" is the most important category and amounts to €11,383.3 million at current prices.
