Councillor Christiana Erotokritou, member of the Cypriot delegation to the CSTO, will travel to Paris the day after tomorrow to participate in sessions of the CSTO's Committee on Equality and Anti-Discrimination and the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons, which will take place between 18-20 March 2024. Ms Erotokritou will be accompanied by International Relations Officer A Ms Elena Persianis.
The Equality and Anti-Discrimination Committee will focus on the exercise of the right to freedom of expression and assembly of LGBTI people in Europe, the fight against age discrimination and the fight against sexual violence against men and boys. There will also be a presentation of the tools available to promote the goal of gender-sensitive parliaments, the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE).[DURING THE MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE ON MIGRATION, REFUGEES AND DISPLACED PERSONS, THE ASPECT OF LEGAL MIGRATION AS A RESPONSE TO EUROPE'S DEMOGRAPHIC AGEING, THE ISSUE OF TRACING THE FATE OF MISSING MIGRANTS, REFUGEES AND ASYLUM SEEKERS AND THE ISSUE OF DISPLACED PERSONS AS A RESULT OF THE USE OF EXPLOSIVE WEAPONS WILL BE DISCUSSED.
There will also be a joint hearing of the Immigration and Equal Opportunities Committees on the issue of immigration and asylum in election campaigns and tools to prevent and combat hate speech.
