MP Averof Neophytou, head of the Cypriot delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), participated today at the 52nd Session of the Coordinating Committee of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Parliamentary Conference in Geneva.
During the meeting, the members of the Coordination Committee discussed at length the current challenges in the field of global trade, including WTO reform, and underlined the importance of having the necessary political will to address them. In addition, Committee members were briefed on the issues expected to be addressed at the 13th WTO Ministerial Session in the United Arab Emirates in February 2024 and decided that the Organization's Parliamentary Conference, which will be held on the margins of the Ministerial Session, will address the relationship between trade and climate. ---------------------------------------
