MP Efstathiou, member of the Cypriot delegation to the CSTO, is travelling to Paris to participate in sessions of the CSTO's Legal and Human Rights Committee and Culture, Education, Science and Media Committee, which will take place between 30 November and 5 December 2023.

In the context of the session of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights, Mr Efstathiou, in his capacity as Rapporteur on the issue of the enforcement of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, will propose ways to improve and speed up the enforcement of judgments by making use of the dual role of the members of the Committee, as members of the Assembly and of their respective national parliaments.

Other topics for discussion include reconciliation and reparation processes as effective ways of addressing conflicts and building a shared and peaceful future. There will also be hearings with the three candidates for the post of Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe.

During the meeting of the Committee on Culture, Education, Science and Media, Mr Efstathiou will present the shortlist for this year's Museum Prize, which is awarded each year to an innovative museum within the Council of Europe that promotes the principles and values of the Organisation.

The Commission will also address the issue of the loss of cultural identity in times of war and peace, ensuring the independence of the media and the safety of journalists, cultural heritage and climate change, as well as the issue of education for children with disabilities and/or other learning difficulties.

On Wednesday, 6 December 2023, Mr Efstathiou will travel to Cologne to participate in a conference, co-organised by the CSCE and the Venice Commission, on "Money and democracy: a difficult relationship".
