The Statistical Office announces the release of the bi-monthly bulletin "Monthly Economic Developments" for the period January - April 2024. The bulletin presents the main economic developments for the Cypriot economy for the last few months up to April 2024, as well as comparative data for the last four years, which were available up to 11 June 2024.
Note: Trend depicts the long-term evolution of a series observed over a long period of time. It is the result of influences such as population growth, technological development and general economic growth.
The Manufacturing sector in January - March 2024 saw a 4.3% increase compared to January - March 2023.
The total area of Approved Building Permits reached 626.4 thousand square meters in the period January - March 2024, an increase of 12.2% compared to the same period last year.
Total Motor Vehicle Registrations recorded an increase of 33.5%, reaching 17,589 in the period January - April 2024. Private saloon cars increased to 12,365, up 41.0%, and light trucks increased to 1,550, up 48.5% compared to January - April 2023.
The Consumer Price Index increased 1.8% in January - April 2024 compared to the same period last year.
Total Imports of Goods amounted to €3,619.6 million for the period January - April 2024, a decrease of 18.4%, and Total Exports of Goods amounted to €1,166.6 million, also a decrease of 8.4%.
Tourist Arrivals amounted to 748,814 in the period January - April 2024 compared to 736,629 in the corresponding period of 2023, an increase of 1.7%.
