The European Commission, as part of its efforts to simplify the implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), has launched a broad Europe-wide consultation aimed at the main recipients of European funding, farmers.

The purpose of this consultation is to understand the burden placed on farmers by the procedures and rules associated with financial support under the CAP, as well as other European Union (EU) rules on food and agriculture in the EU. In a statement, the European Commission said that "the consultation will help us to identify sources of concern and complexity regarding the way these policies and systems are implemented in EU countries, so that we can then identify areas where improvements could be made".

The results of the survey, which expires on 8 April 2024, will be published as part of a detailed analysis in autumn 2024.

The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment (DEFRA) supports simplification of the CAP and has included a recommendation to this effect in its CAP diversification recommendations to the EU Council of Agriculture and Fisheries Ministers held in Brussels on 26 February. Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development invites farmers to fill in the questionnaire so that the views and demands of the agricultural world of Cyprus can be conveyed en masse to the European institutions.

The electronic questionnaire, which is also available in Greek, can be found at the following link.

It takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.
