[PIO] Minister of State for Culture goes to Brussels for the EU Education, Youth, Culture and Sport Council

Deputy Minister of State for Culture Dr Vasiliki Kassianidou is leaving today for Brussels where she will participate in the Education, Youth, Culture and Sport Council of the European Union (EU), which meets on 23 and 24 November.

On the second day of the Council, the Culture Ministers will discuss two issues related to video games and their cultural dimension, as well as the working conditions of artists and other professionals in the cultural sector.

On the first issue, the Ministers of State for Culture are expected to adopt conclusions on strengthening the cultural and creative dimension of the video games sector in Europe.

On the second issue, the Ministers of State for Culture are expected to adopt conclusions on strengthening the cultural and creative dimension of the video games sector in Europe.

Regarding the major issue of improving the working conditions of artists and other cultural professionals, the Ministers will discuss existing weaknesses and ways in which socio-economic conditions in the cultural/creative industries can be improved.

Deputy Minister Dr. Kassianidou, in her intervention at the Council, will inform her counterparts about the efforts made at national level to implement the institutional framework for the status and professional status of artists. She will also comment, inter alia, on the Spanish Presidency of the Council's efforts to develop a European platform aimed at providing artists with information on employment and professional development issues.
