Minister of Health Dr Poppy Kanari met yesterday with the Director General for Structural Reform Support at the European Commission (DG-REFORM) Mr Mario Navas. The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Health Ms Christina Giannaki, the Head of the Delegation of the European Commission in Cyprus Ms Myrto Zambarta and the Director of the Directorate General for Development of the Ministry of Finance Ms Georgia Christofidou.
The Directorate General for Structural Reform Support to the European Commission (DG-REFORM) is responsible for the approval of Technical Assistance Programmes to Member States.
It is noted that the Ministry of Health received technical support for the preparation of the Capacity Planning Programme (Health Sector Needs Assessment). The results of the programme will be made public at a demographic conference on 23 November 2023 by the Minister of Health.
The meeting also focused on two other requests from the Ministry of Health for programme support from DG Reform. They concern the assessment of needs in terms of supervision and organisation as well as the evaluation of health technologies in the field of medicines and medical devices.
