The continuous improvement of working conditions is necessary and is achieved through the strengthening of social dialogue and tripartite cooperation between workers, employers and the state.

Labour Day recalls the struggles of workers that led to the securing and institutionalisation of labour rights, which are now taken for granted, and is a landmark for any state that focuses on the continuous improvement of the quality of life of its citizens.

The Government is implementing the popular mandate to implement people-centred policies, in accordance with the President's programme of governance, placing particular emphasis on the protection and improvement of work, on which the livelihood of the vast majority of citizens is based.

The European policy on the future of work provides for better regulation of labour relations, strengthening collective bargaining and ensuring the adequacy of workers' earnings, so that the development of the economy and the cohesion of society evolve in parallel to reduce inequalities and marginalisation with the corresponding impact on the cohesion of the European Union.

The Republic of Cyprus is fully aligned in this direction, in accordance with the needs of society and the potential of the European Union.
