For two thousand and twenty-one years, the Christmas message of peace and love has flooded the hearts of all of us. For the last two years, the birth of Christ has increased hope and expectation for a better world, free at the same time from the great ordeal of the coronavirus pandemic.

The deadly virus threatens all of humanity and we are obliged to continue the effort as outlined by the world scientific community. Nothing can be conquered without effort. All along the way, the Cabinet has taken measures of social protection, measures of social sensitivity, measures of social responsibility, and measures of justice with the utmost respect for our fellow man. The overwhelming majority of our people support the effort, follow and stand with us. That is why some excellent results have been recorded. Our young people have brought down the wall, they have taken the big step, to protect themselves, but above all to protect their grandparents, grandmothers, parents, the whole of our society. And we thank them!

At the Ministry of Health, we sympathize with all patients and try to solve their daily problems. Managing the pandemic, upgrading GHS services and addressing any issues that arise are high on our priorities. It is my challenge, but also my duty, to cooperate with all the institutions in order for the health sector in our country to be a beacon of light and an example to follow.

On the occasion of Christmas, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Cypriot people for their efforts aimed at improving our daily lives. I feel the need to publicly express a big "thank you" to the staff of the Ministry of Health, from the frontline public health servants to the top executives. We are grateful to all health scientists, doctors, nurses, caregivers, all members of the workforce, who struggle every day, at personal cost, with sacrifice and agony, to provide the best possible service to their fellow human beings.

The difficult circumstances we are experiencing cannot spoil the magic of Christmas. We pray for generous love and strengthen the faith that the hopeful message of Christmas will embrace all people in every corner of the earth, with the expectation that rebirth will come through the manger of our souls.
