In the framework of the President's visit to the United Arab Emirates, Defence Minister Haralambos Petrides held a series of meetings and contacts in Abu Dhabi today. In particular, he had a bilateral meeting and working lunch with Minister Mohammed Al Bowardi, Minister responsible for Defence Affairs.
The two Ministers discussed issues of defence interest and defined their next actions on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding and the bilateral defence cooperation programme 2021-22.

They exchanged views on recent developments in Ukraine and security in the wider Gulf and Eastern Mediterranean region, reaffirming their commitment to promote cooperation for peace and stability.
Petrides laid a wreath at the Wahat Al Karama Martyrs and Heroes Memorial and was given a tour of the site by Sheikh Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan.
He then visited the Unmanned Weapon Systems Exhibition (UMEX22), during which he was briefed on the latest technological developments in the field.
